Why Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal?

After drying off, cows form a natural keratin plug in the teats, which seals the teat canal. The formation of such a sealing keratin plug is not always successful. One factor that can limit this formation, for example, is a high daily milk yield (>12 kg) at the time of drying off, which can lead to congestion and milk leakage after drying off. Research¹ has shown that one week after drying off, approximately 50% of teats have not yet formed a proper, naturally sealing keratin plug, and that 6 weeks after drying off, an average of 23% of teats are still 'open' and therefore vulnerable to the entry of bacteria. Additionally, congestion can occur in the teats again in the week before calving, which can cause the teat canal to open up slightly.
Applying Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal creates a layer over the teat canal, forming an external physical barrier against bacteria and providing an (additional) protective layer.

Application

At the start of the dry period. It is also recommended for cows and heifers approximately 10 days before calving.
For use above an outside temperature of 0°C.
Clean the teats thoroughly and then apply in two separate applications using the supplied cup, with an interval of one minute to allow the first application time to dry. After application, keep the animals restrained at the feed fence for 15 to 30 minutes so that Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal can dry properly on the teat.

Duration of action

5 days

250 ml is sufficient for approx. 60 udders.
