Used to seal the teat canal during drying-off. Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal is polymer-based and forms a breathable layer.

Why Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal?

After drying-off, cows form a natural keratin plug in their teats, which seals the teat canal. In some cases, the formation of such a sealing keratin plug does not occur. One factor that can limit this formation, for example, is a high daily milk yield (>12 kg) at the time of drying-off, which can lead to udder engorgement and milk leakage after drying-off. Research¹ has shown that one week after drying-off, approximately 50% of teats have not yet formed a natural, well-sealing keratin plug, and that six weeks after drying-off, on average, 23% of teats are still 'open' and thus vulnerable to bacterial entry. Additionally, engorgement of the teats can occur again in the week before calving, which may cause the teat canal to open up slightly.
By applying Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal, a layer is placed over the teat canal, creating an external physical barrier against bacteria and thus providing an (additional) protective layer.

Application

At the start of the dry period. It is also recommended for cows and heifers approximately 10 days before calving.
Use above an outside temperature of 0°C.
Clean the teats thoroughly and then apply in two separate applications using the supplied cup, with an interval of one minute, so that the first application has time to dry. After application, keep the animals secured at the feed fence for 15 to 30 minutes so that the Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal can dry properly on the teat.

Duration of action

250 ml is sufficient for approx. 60 udders.
