HokoEx (larvicide) may be used for the control of fly larvae in animal housing and waste treatment facilities.
Animal housing
Larvicide for the control of fly larvae in manure, litter, faeces, and slurry pits or liquid manure.
HokoEx may be used indoors in animal housing for the following animals in places where manure and/or other excrement is not compressed:

Dairy cattle, beef cattle, veal calves, sows in individual pens, sows in groups, finishing pigs, laying hens in free-range systems, laying hens in enriched cages, broilers, turkeys, ducks, geese, rabbits, horses, goats, sheep, and mink. |
The result is an inhibited growth of the larvae, while the moulting process is interrupted and normal pupation is prevented; therefore, rapid action cannot be expected. Application should be aimed at treating breeding sites. Adult flies are not controlled. Animals do not need to be removed from the stable or pen during application.
Application:
HokoEx can be applied by scattering, pouring, and spraying.

Low-pressure spraying — add water to the product up to approximately half of the final water volume, stir thoroughly, top up to the final volume, and stir briefly before use. Spray on the same day. In the case of dry organic material, only apply by spraying or pouring. Pouring with a watering can — add water to the product up to approximately half of the final water volume, stir thoroughly, top up to the final volume, and stir briefly before use. Use on the same day. Dry scattering by hand — apply directly to places where fly maggots develop. Do not scatter on dry manure or manure with a dried surface. In the case of dry organic material, only apply by spraying or pouring. |
Dosage and frequency:
Dose: low-pressure spraying: 25 g/m2 (undiluted product (granules))
Dilution (%): for an area of 10 m2, add 250 g of product to water, top up to a total volume of 1-4 litres, depending on the moisture of the surface to be treated.
Dose: pouring with a watering can: 25 g/m2 (undiluted product (granules))
Dilution (%): for an area of 10 m2, add 250 g of product to water, top up to a total volume of 4-10 litres, depending on the moisture of the surface to be treated.
Dose: dry scattering by hand: 25 g/m2

Number and timing of application:
First application:
Ideally shortly after clearing/cleaning the stable or immediately before the fly season. Can also be applied when the fly season has already started.
Due to the mechanism of action of cyromazine, effective larval control begins late. The biocide efficiently controls fly populations starting from two to ten weeks after the larvicidal treatment.
Repetition of application:
If necessary, application can be repeated as soon as fly larvae reappear. Please see the section on use-specific instructions for the maximum number of applications.
Waste treatment facilities
Larvicide for the control of nuisance flies and biting flies in the following waste treatment facilities:
MBT facilities (mechanical-biological treatment) and composting sites.
